C21 Webcast

If you missed us at Boston College a couple weeks back or are just curious to get a sense of what the conversation around From the Pews in the Back looks like lately, check out this link to C21 on Demand, the Church in the 21st Century Center’s catalog of webcasts. The title of our presentation is “From the Pews in the Back: Young Women and Catholicism,” and Mary Ann Hinsdale, IHM of the Theology Department at Boston College moderated the conversation. We had a great turnout and a lovely Q&A with the hundred or so folks who gathered. NB: If you want to watch the video, be sure that you have RealPlayer downloaded on to your computer; or you can listen to the audio. We look forward to hearing your thoughts on the presentation.

  1. Hey Kate Dugan and Jennifer Owens,

I am currently in Professor Mary Ann Hinsdale’s, IHM Exploring Catholicism class, and we were assigned to read your book “From the Pews in the Back:Young Women and Catholicism.” I was at your presentation at Boston College and was extremely surprised that there was no mention concerning the child abuse scandals in the Church worldwide. Even the authors, except for Eileen Markey, in your book seemed to overlook or generalize this major conflict in church. I was just curious what are your thoughts on this very heated topic, especially taking account the very recent reports concerning the Pope and his possible knowledge of some of the sexual abuses.
Thank you for your time and I wish both of you the best of luck!

    Esteban Munera
